July….whew!
This is a post from my old RR blog that I wanted to transfer but need to make it “private” due to personally identifiable information.
Enjoy the re-read if you want.
So much has happened since I actually sat down to write over a month ago that I’m just going to go through a few of the major items in order for the sake of a time-line. I’m here in my new home after MUCH hassle and stress but things are finally settling down. Whew!
To start, work totally screwed me over. What was set to be a 3/4 time position has turned into a 1/4 time one, along with the paycheck to go with it. This is because my boss was deployed and my new supervisor, whom I’ve worked fine with over the past 2 years, got her panties in a twist over my working off-site because she failed to prepare for my departure…WITH 5 WEEKS NOTICE! That is 5 weeks of a formal notice. My boss knew a month before then that I would be moving when my home sold which prompted the discussion of my continuing to work for them off-site. So, after weeks of my asking them “Can we sit down and discuss the logistics of how this is going to work?” to “I’m leaving in a week and nothing has been done.” does she finally freak out and blame me for “backing her into a corner”. How her failure to prepare is my fault I’ll never understand. Needless to say she made me pay for it by cutting my workload and my hours to less than 1/2 of what was previously discussed with my departing boss and by giving me a pittance of a raise after my best review and most accomplishing year there. My previous boss mistakenly thought she’d be fair with things so he left everything up to her since he was going to be gone and no longer supervising me. Now instead of the autonomy I used to have I’m micromanaged like a grade school-er.
My mover screwed me too and I’m looking into arbitration options and filing complaints against him. I’m just so sick of it all I don’t even feel like going into it here…everything from picking my stuff up 2 days late to delivering 5 days late, to adding extra charges, to failing to deliver some things, etc. A couple attorneys I’ve talked too said the amount isn’t worth persuing through litigation and I am probably out the extra charge and my missing items he failed to deliver. At this point I would love to do everything I can to make his life miserable and create whatever stress I can for him.
While I was preparing to close and move Lomee went in the hospital for a few days. He had been sick and throwing up for 4 days when a co-worker finally took him into the ER. They admitted him due to dehydration and low sodium levels (which is the opposite of what should happen when you’re dehydrated.) They later found out he had a serious case of viral pancreatitis. The doctor said he was at risk of a seizure and death if he had waited much longer due to the low sodium levels and he was lucky he came in when he did. So, he had scans out the ying-yang and 30 some bags of “stuff” via IV (antibiotics, antivirals, saline, potassium, etc.) and 3 days later was able to come home. The doc wanted to keep him a few more days but we promised he’d take it easy and eat a liquid diet for a week. He went back for a follow-up and was doing well. All in all he missed 2 weeks of work and had to continue taking medicine for the past month.
We went and got Dempsey but we also ended up with another dog…a black Lab named Buddy. When I was in Pet-Smart a guy had a posting that he was looking for a home for him .
They are a lot of work but also a ton of fun. We’re amazed at how good they are and how well they get along We went to the VW place to look at Passats again because I’m addicted to them but ended up walking out with a GTI Fahrenheit.
Of course it Lomee loves the color (orange) and is happy to get rid of his POS beater that he got last winter. It’s a fun, fast car and we both love driving it not to mention that it is perfect for hauling around the dogs. He’s already pimping it up with tint, new floor mats and a vanity plate.
Well, that’s all I have time for right now. Lomee came home and made me lunch (he gets 1/2 days on Fridays because he puts in his hours during the week) and I have to go shower for an interview I have at 4. I’ll try to write more this weekend…there’s much to tell.
